Welcome to El Chavo Restaurant! We are located on Sunset Boulevard in the heart of the Los Feliz and Silverlake neighborhoods and have been serving the community delicious Mexican food for over 40 years. We are around the corner from the historic Vista Theatre and a ½ block from the famous “Five Points” intersection of Sunset & Hollywood Boulevard.
El Chavo Restaurant features excellent attentive service, tasty authentic cuisine and an affordable and extensive cocktail and tequila selection as well as, of course, our famous House Margaritas. Signature plates include our Green Corn Tamales, “Senor” and "Senora” combination plates, Monterey Steak and Shrimp a la Diablo. All of our dishes are made from scratch and we have been using the same ranch style recipes since 1966.
Previous owner for 40 years, Ricardo lovingly tended to El Chavo until he retired. The business changed hands to new owner Melanie Tusquellas. She brings a fresh sensibility while maintaining the atmosphere and menu that make El Chavo unique. Tusquellas’ grandfather, John, was a long time patron of the restaurant and friends with Ricardo. As a child Melanie ate often at El Chavo, and now she is there to bring the same hospitality that Ricardo was famous for.

Cocktails until 12am Sunday thru Thursday, and until 2am Friday and Saturday.
